Harrisburg- August 7, 2018 − Sen. John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) said that area residents should be aware and plan for upcoming street closures in Northeast Philadelphia.
Sabatina serves as the Democratic chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. The senator is also a member of the state Transportation Commission.
Richmond Street will be closed to southbound traffic between Allegheny Avenue an Ann Street beginning on Monday, August 13. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The project will be completed by late 2019.
“The road construction on Richmond Street between Ann Street and Westmoreland Street in the Port Richmond section of the city will result in detours on well-traveled roads in the area,” Sabatina said. “Motorists should use caution when traveling in these construction zones.”
He said that southbound Richmond Street motorists will be detoured west on Allegheny Avenue, south on Aramingo Avenue, and east on Lehigh Avenue to access Richmond Street. Northbound Richmond Street traffic will be maintained during this closure.
“Improvements to sections of I-95, like Richmond Street, are essential to maintaining continued use of these heavily traveled roads,” said Sabatina.
The Richmond Street project is part of the first stage in the larger planned reconstruction of I-95 between Allegheny Avenue and Frankford Creek. More information of continued improvements to I-95 can be found at www.95revive.com.
