PHILADELPHIA, February 26, 2018 – Senator John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) and the Fox Chase Cancer Center will be partnering to host an upcoming cancer screening event.
The event will be held at Sabatina’s District Office at 12361 Academy Road on March 2 at 10 a.m. The Fox Chase Mobile Mammography Van will be on site.
“Prevention and early detection are the best defense against breast cancer, which is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death from cancer in Pennsylvania women,” Sabatina said. “I am committed to making sure that all the women in our communities have a convenient way to get screened for breast cancer. I encourage everyone who is eligible to make an appointment.”
To qualify for a screening, participants must be 40 years of age or over, and have a prescription from their doctor. They also may not be breastfeeding or have breast-fed within the last nine months, must not have had a breast cancer diagnosis within the past three years, or a mammogram in 12 months. Those who will be screened must also be able to board the van and stand while being examined.
Appointments are required to attend the event. To make an appointment, or if you need more information, contact Linda Hammell at Fox Chase Cancer Center at 215-728-3554 or Linda.Hammel@fccc.edu.
“Fox Chase Cancer Center has been an excellent partner in making sure that women have access to these screenings, and I appreciate their ongoing dedication to serving our community.”
