PennDOT to Host Public Hearing Sept. 14 on Byberry Bridge Repairs

penndot PennDOT The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is hosting an upcoming open house and public meeting on the project to replace the structurally deficient bridge carrying Byberry Road over CSX Railroad tracks in Philadelphia.

The event takes place on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 at 11630 Caroline Road in Philadelphia.

PennDOT is performing preliminary engineering and environmental studies for the project and will provide an update about the current design. Participants will have a chance to discuss the project with PennDOT’s design team and officials from the Philadelphia Streets Department.

PennDOT is preparing the design of a replacement structure in conjunction with the City of Philadelphia since Byberry Road is city street. The new bridge will be owned and maintained by the city. PennDOT will keep Byberry Road open to traffic during construction, which is expected to start in late 2019 or early 2020.

This meeting is an opportunity for residents to get an update on this project and learn about how it will impact the community. I invite the public to join me at this open house and take the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns with PennDOT and the Streets Department.
