Unthinkable: 2,000 Terror Suspects Allowed to Buy Guns

With the U.S. Congess failing to act under pressure from the gun lobby, I am seeking state action to close a loophole that has allowed thousands of terror suspects to purchase weapons.

It makes no sense to maintain a list of suspected terrorists only to allow those on the list to walk out the door with an unlimited supply of arms.

Anyone too dangerous to board a plane, is too dangerous to own an arsenal. This is a loophole that must be closed. Click here to read more.

Budget Picture is Stark and Sobering

The budget outlined by Gov. Wolf this week is a stark and sobering reminder of where we stand after years of gimmicks, politics and accounting tricks.

Pennsylvania schools are already teetering on insolvency, unable to provide basic safety, let alone a 21st century learning environment.

Without significant new public investment, we risk the jobs of thousands of teachers at a time when our students are tumbling down the ladder in the global education rankings. We are competing in an international labor market and we are failing our students. READ MORE


Hands-On Help for Students Financing College

Recognizing the importance of higher education, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and I would like to invite you and your parents to attend my PHEAA Financial Aid Education Night. 

PHEAA representatives will explain to students and their families what financial aid opportunities are available and which resources can assist in obtaining them.  Please visit www.pheaa.org for more information. 

The free seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Father Judge High School auditorium, 3301 Solly Avenue. Registration for the free seminar is not required.

More than $800,000 in state grant money will be distributed for stream and greenway projects that will benefit residents of Northeast Philadelphia.
